A storage area network is an architecture designed to attach remote disk arrays to multiple servers or workstations in such a way that, to the operating system, the disk arrays appear as locally attached drives. An iSCSI SAN subsystem generally simplifies storage administration because everything is in a central pool. This pool is then partitioned between clients by allocating a dedicated LUN as needed.
